Essay / Rethinking Gun Control: A Social Necessity - 704
Armed citizens have prevented countless crimes and saved many lives in some situations. However, firearms are now regularly used in mass killings. Unfortunately, mass killings have become the norm in this century and American citizens need to change for the better. The rehabilitation of the country would bring more peace to society. Both proponents of gun control and those opposed to it focus on people with mental illnesses. One way to stop the mentally ill from getting their hands on guns would be for the government to be stricter. It's easy for anyone to own a gun. In fact, if a murderer appears to suffer from mental illness, he or she will not face harsh consequences because of this excuse. It's not fair because everyone should be equal. Everyone should be subjected to intensive testing before being considered a gun owner. This should be a long process and the person must swear that they will only use it to defend themselves.
