  • Essay / My homework on Rome and Alexander the Great - 1132

IntroductionFor this third period of the APWH portfolio, I intend to attack my tasks with the awareness of not procrastinating. Man, did I learn my lesson from the last set of 19 tasks: don't put the last 2 days aside. This is the biggest mindset I have right now about these 9 new tasks: DO. NOT. PROCROACH. I will use my free time more and organize myself more efficiently with calendars, reminders, etc. If I can bounce back from the horrible experience of the last set of tasks, I will give myself a Time Management Rebound Award!Time 600-1450 CE is an era of local (trans/regional) interactions, and the Central point of this period was trade, just like religion in the previous period. I look forward to learning more about the impact of trade on the world and how merchants, technology, and the economy developed through trade and the growing awareness of the surrounding empires and regions. Looking to the future, I notice that the two most brutal empires in history are found in this era: the Mongols and the Aztecs. Empires that take control of vast lands through military domination are of great interest to me, due to my fondness for the empires of Rome and Alexander the Great. As will probably always be the case, I think I will find the procrastination factor of large assignments like these to be the most difficult. In fact, I might have an even harder time completing this than the last two sets of tasks due to the sheer number this time. 9 tasks might be very illusory when it comes to being motivated to complete them, and I might be fooled into thinking, "Oh, I can just start this the weekend before it's due." » I have to be persistent and counter my guilty conscience by saying, "Why don't I get a head start and do this in my free time?" » Task...... middle of paper ......d critical role in supporting a growing population  Added corn, fruits and vegetables to the markets of Tenochtitlan Waru waru  Avoided and mitigated the effect of erosion on soil Terraces  Crops could be sown on hillsides  Also reduced the effect of erosion on soil  Like all these technologies, this allowed greater food for the urban population Horse collar  Made it easier for the horse to carry heavy objects Their neck and shoulders hurt less when lifting and pulling Task 8RELIGION GENDER FAMILYBUDDHISM  Anyone, regardless of gender or place in the hierarchy, could practice Buddhism and achieve Nirvana  Vows, monksCHRISTIANITY  Men superior to women Few marital disputesISLAM  For religious reasons, women wore the veil  People were treated fairly PolygamyNEO CONFUCIANISM  Men superior to women  Family basis of the company
