Essay / The Pros and Cons of Euthanasia and Suicide - 1112
Euthanasia and suicide are a very serious topic of discussion in the world we live in today. Euthanasia is a choice that an individual may or may not make in their life. It is when someone or the individual thinks that it is better for them to die rather than suffer in a hospital bed or barely live. This mainly happens when their life depends on nutrients from an HIV tube, respirator mask, etc. This completely relieves the pain by pressing the switch. By flipping the switch on the machine, everything that helps you survive will no longer work and you will die peacefully. Suicide is a subject that we are talking about more and more in society, especially in Montreal, in recent years. In 2011, Canada was ranked 67th out of 192 in global suicide surveys (global life expectancy). Suicide has different approaches for everyone in the world. Everyone who has ever committed or attempted suicide has a reason. “The warning signs of suicide could include the following. Difficulty concentrating, loss of interest in things that used to amuse the individual, use of drugs or alcohol, etc. » (Dr. Davidson, 3). The Catholic Church considers acts of euthanasia to be a sin for the Church. Pope John Paul II quotes: “Euthanasia is a serious violation of the law of God, since it is the deliberate and morally unacceptable murder of a human person” (Paul II, 4). The Catholic Church also considers suicide to be a “gravely evil action,” explains Father. William Saunders (Father Saunders,5). The Church sees that acts of suicide and euthanasia are evil and sinful. Because the Church considers human life “sacred”. It's more precious than anything. (Catholic Church, 6) “I agree with euthanasia, when a person is at the point where they are terminally ill and in extreme pain and have...... middle of paper ... ... his essay, I was not for suicide or euthanasia. After researching and thinking, my mind changed a bit. I still believe that it is wrong to commit and encourage suicide, but I am now in favor of euthanasia. Before the trial, I did not understand the whole idea and concept of euthanasia. I know growing up I thought it was bad because my dog was shot, but I didn't know all the information at that time. I also got other opinions on euthanasia and suicide from websites and from my parents. I agree with all the statements in favor of euthanasia and against suicide. In conclusion, it is morally wrong to commit suicide and commit suicide. Because the Church considers these two actions to be a sin for the Catholic Church. I agree and disagree with some of the arguments made by the Church, but these cannot change or influence the decision of the Catholic Church today..
