Essay / Position Paper on Campus Waste - 787
Position Paper on Campus WasteNowadays, environmental pollution plays a very important role in the biggest issues of our daily lives. It’s easy to see that there is so much trash around us, even on our beautiful campus. For example, these days I usually see cans, wine bottles and paper waste like packaging bags on the way to my classes. I wake up every day with a smiling face, but the moment I see them, I can't smile anymore. I think no one can stand the green trees, the red flowers growing in the sea of waste. Pollution is so harmful to human beings. Polluted water can cause many types of diseases, like diarrhea, enteritis, etc. And sometimes diseases even take human life. Dirty air or airborne waste causes stinging eyes and a runny nose. Pollutants are destructive. They cause runs in the bottoms and cracks in rubber tires and they always eat away at stone and rust iron. Time and again, serious accidents pollute the air. For example, in 1986 there was a serious accident at a nuclear power plant in Russia. A cloud of radiation crossed all of Europe. An estimated 125,000 people died in Russia from illnesses caused by the accident. In 1984, an accident occurred at a factory in India and a cloud of dangerous gas covered the city of Bhopal. More than 2,500 people were killed that night and hundreds and thousands were injured. Many of the injured lost their sight, and it is really dangerous, even in our imagination. Due to the danger of pollution, we need to do something to protect our campus or even our land. I believe some effective solutions that can help are suggested below. Too many cars can cause terrible problems with the air. Like... middle of paper... no more free, people have to pay for it and people will think they really need a bag? Can they carry them in cars? I believe there will be less plastic things around us in the United States. In conclusion, I must say that we will have a long way to go to have a “clean” world. Almost all countries are making efforts to prevent and control air pollution. There seems to be no end to the tasks that environmentalists will be called upon to perform. But it's never too late to succeed. People will continually find new ways to control pollution. And success comes to those who persevere. I believe in the future, there are only green trees, red flowers, songbirds and all the beauties of our campus. One day when I wake up, I will walk to class with all my pleasures, because there will be no more cans, no more wine bottles and no more colorful plastic bags on the way to school..
