Essay / The Negative Essay: The Effects of Domestic Violence
US government statistics indicate that 95% of domestic violence cases involve female victims of male partners. The children of these women often witness domestic violence (domesticviolencetabel.com 2016). When we were kids, bullying is what we usually do when we learn that something is “fresh” for us. When we witness violence, it has two consequences on our mental health: fragility or distrust of the relationship or the behavior or intimate words of parents. I think this is a bad way to give a child a false idea of violence. When I was a child, my parents argued a lot because they had arranged marriages. I witnessed or heard the moment they fought and argued, I also cried a lot when I saw the bruise appear on my parents' bodies. My older sister hugs me until I fall asleep at that point. After a while, my parents began to realize that it was very emotional for us to be victims of domestic violence when they argued. This experience also raised the issue of my distrust of marriage. I think my parents' early attachment relationship predicts later emotional development.
