Essay / The Difference Between Old English and Middle English
The duration of Modern English was during the English Renaissance, and thus the astonishing developments that occurred there (Myers 166). After the Renaissance came the Age of Reason, and it was during this time that language became recognizable to this day (Smith 9). The most common example of modern English is that Shakespeare wrote there, and it has the most similarities to modern times; language shifted from a synthetic language to a more analytical language, and relied less on inflectional endings and more on word order to convey information (Durkin 1). Modern English is the basis of an ever-evolving language spoken by millions of people.
