    Many Americans forget that many of our ancestors were once immigrants coming to America in search of new opportunities, just as immigrants are today. Existing solutions to illegal immigration, some rather extreme, include legalization or amnesty rather than deportation or imprisonment of illegal immigrants. Although the government receives less tax money from undocumented people and some U.S. citizens are fired from their jobs, illegal immigration is beneficial because businesses thrive; Meanwhile, the entire country and every immigrant will benefit from the legalization of the entire illegal population. Illegal aliens can drive uneducated Americans out of jobs, thanks to cheaper labor (Porter 1). Victims of immigration include poorly educated people who cannot fit into a job market where many low-level positions are filled by low-paid illegal immigrants (3). This is evident because while 22 million American citizens are unemployed, 8 million illegal immigrants in the United States are employed (“Illegal Immigration” 2014 1). In addition to illegal immigrants taking jobs in the United States, the economy suffers because schools and hospitals lose money to illegal immigrants who do not pay taxes (Master 1). This charitable attitude also encourages illegal immigrants to come to America to have children, because any child born in the United States automatically gains citizenship (“Illegal Immigration” 2012 1). While there are many reasons to rid the country of illegal immigrants, there are many benefits to immigrants settling in America.
