Essay / The philosophy of doubt by René Descartes
Doubt is an aspect of thought. The more we doubt, the more we doubt his shows. Descartes' philosophy was greatly inspired by my thoughts on the realities of life. René Descartes inspired me a lot with his saying “I doubt therefore I exist because when we doubt we think about sorting out certain things”. Say no to plagiarism. Descartes is considered the first modern philosopher. He is famous for establishing an important connection between geometry and algebra, which made it possible to solve geometric problems using algebraic equations. He caught my attention because of his theory on the separation between mind and body which influenced later Western philosophies. In Meditations on First Philosophy, Descartes attempted to demonstrate the existence of God and the distinction between the human soul and the body. Because his whole theory can be brought back into our experience of life, as he believes that true knowledge cannot come from our senses, because either it can always deceive us, or we have deceived it ourselves and he s he realized that although almost everything can be doubted, there is one thing that cannot be doubted. And if he doubts, then he thinks. He knows something because we have our senses. Now, our senses can be deceived and this can deceive us. Since everything we know is made possible through our senses and our senses can and can deceive us, then everything we know is not certain. Therefore, we are souls, we are thinking beings. And our body? For Descartes, the body is simply the instrument available to man to live in this world. For René Descartes, we doubt what we know. I doubt you exist. I doubt you're breathing. I doubt whether you are a man or a woman. I doubt you have a soul. However, in doubting everything, there is something that we cannot doubt, that is, we doubt. I can really relate to it. I also doubt, I doubt that there is a heaven, that I was really alive and all the rest. Because we are human beings and we have questions and doubts about everything in our life while we are living. As we live, we have plenty of doubts in our life. As a student I also doubt myself, can I really complete my studies, can I have a better life in the future, in the near future I will die, heaven is real and many more . Doubt can be negative and positive. But even if we have questions and doubts in our life, we must continue to live because our questions and doubts in life have an answer. If you doubt, it means you exist. Keep in mind: this is just a sample. Get a custom paper now from our expert writers.Get a custom essayDoubt is for Descartes a methodical way of seeking pure truth. He realizes that in doubt, there is only one pure truth. He first discovers the existence of his “doubt”. He realizes that the more he doubts, the more it really exists and he associates doubt with the work of the mind (thinking mind). He concluded that “cogito er gu sum”, “I “think” therefore I am” (Since I doubt/think, I am in my existence). It is the purest knowledge when it comes from thought and not from the senses according to Descartes. This is why I like René Descartes theory because his whole theory gives us an idea of why we exist in this..
