Essay / Child development: observation of toddlers - 741
This observation was mainly carried out behind one-way glass. I looked at the children but they didn't know I was there. The ages of the children benefiting from this program were between 18 and 36 months. The curriculum used in this program is considered creative. The qualifications staff must have to work in this program are a Child Development Associate's Degree (CDA) or a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education. The type of family involvement this program provides includes training, car seat safety, and health service. workshops and home visits to help parents achieve their children's goals. Parent volunteers are always welcome. The layout of the rooms and the choice of equipment are adapted to toddlers and their development needs. The room was open and allowed the children to be seen at all times. When the little ones left their big square table, they headed to the kitchen, also known as the dramatic play area, for social time. It didn't take long for them to have everything taken out and the teacher to ask them to put things back while she sang the song Clean Up from the Barney Show. The room consisted of a play kitchen and a dress-up area for pretend play with the teacher. They practiced dressing, feeding and loving dolls. They practiced cooking, serving and eating the fake food. I loved watching the kids play dress up. One male child carried a purse while shopping and another male child learned it had pockets. At this age, children are considered object-centered and this is shown provocatively during playtime. Children love to imitate adults and this was true when I saw a woman trying to speak on her fake cell phone while she was tending to the food in the microwave. Reading corner with a living room environment where you ...... middle of paper ......let yourself be distracted by climbing; slide and play follow the leader on the play equipment. One student chose to play ball alone most of the time. After doing three laps, it was time to race. The teacher let them line up and counted one, two, three and off they went, even the youngest participated in these activities. As the children ran, the teacher encouraged each one by name and they arrived at the finish line with smiles and looking sideways to see who might be watching them. Everyone has a winner in this group. A child was having a problem with his perceptual motor skills when a female banged her head against the wall and wanted her "mommy." Once again, the teacher was there so quickly to meet this child's needs. What I found interesting was that there was no television, no movies, no music. They were workers and children playing together as hard as they could..
