Symbolically, Jack Potter brings change to Yellow Sky by settling down and getting married, thus The Bride Comes to Yellow Sky. Additionally, I think Crane makes this clear at the end of the story when Scratchy approaches Jack with a gun ready to fight: "I don't have a gun because I just came from San Anton with my wife. I'm married," Potter said. "And if I thought there would be galoots like you lurking around when I brought my wife home, I would have had a gun, and don't you forget that." (p.342) Potter made the decision that it was time for change, just as the East and now the West are changing, so must.
