Case Study Analysis1) Identify the ProblemThere appear to be several problems in this scenario. Let me identify some of the problems facing Faith Community Hospital. First, there appear to be ethical issues affecting various Faith Community associates. There is a division of moral and religious beliefs between academia and patients. One problem with staff division is that some staff members do not want to perform certain tasks or medical procedures because of their moral or religious beliefs. Then, of course, there are the staff who want to go above and beyond to benefit the patient in the most beneficial way possible. So we see the division between the two. Should hospital staff perform required medical tasks and procedures, regardless of their views? Are they legally responsible for doing the work asked of them, regardless of their point of view? What about patients who refuse certain treatments? Should the hospital be held responsible for this kind of scenario? The hospital cannot force the patient to do anything against their will. Therefore, if the patient refuses a particular treatment, then he will be responsible for his well-being. There are certain rules and regulations that the hospital must follow and it seems like there are too many free agents wandering around. By this I meant that some hospital pharmacists fill patients' prescriptions out of their own pocket and make payments with the patient. And there are also counselors who treat patients without appropriate insurance coverage. These are serious issues that need to be addressed. Another major problem is that hospital premium costs are increasing. They cost between $217.00 per patient per day and $240.00 per patient per day. This is a substantial increase in costs associated with hospital treatment. No one wants to pay an increase in hospital costs. At the rate things are going, cost estimation may require the company to reduce fixed costs by 15%. In any business, it is usually inevitable that business costs will start to rise more and more. If no specific action is taken, then the company may start facing serious financial problems..
