    It is important to realize that monogamy is not natural and is not a biologically appropriate sexual system for humans. As a result, this central tenet of monogamy has led to alarming rates of divorce and adultery. About 90% of birds were thought to be monogamous. Analysis of avian DNA indicates that many baby bird fathers are not their biological fathers. Only 3-5% of all mammal species on Earth practice some form of monogamy. This information proves that monogamy is rare among animal species. No mammal has been proven to be truly monogamous, so this is an unethical expectation on the part of humans. In the United States, 3 to 4 percent of currently married people have a sexual partner in addition to their spouse in a given year. About 15 to 18 percent of ever-married people had a sexual partner other than their spouse during their marriage. People tend to cheat even if it is seen as morally wrong. The question is always asked “why be in a relationship if you want to cheat on the one you love?” This is because it is human nature. The problem is that people who choose to be polygamous are as excluded as those who choose to be monogamous and cheat. The reason there are high divorce and cheating rates is because it's not human nature to be with one person forever. Polygamy should be legalized because it is natural and promotes individual freedoms. People should have the right to marry whoever and how many people they want.
