Every year, millions of children, adults, innocent men and women are forced to do things against their will. Whether forced labor or prostitution, human trafficking happens every day, everywhere and all the time. It happens in the most unlikely places, with the most unlikely people. Your neighbor, pastor, teacher or even a family friend could be part of the trafficking scheme. Human trafficking is a problem that affects millions of lives and must be stopped by raising awareness about it. Human trafficking is the second largest illegal industry behind the drug trade. This comes in many different forms. Human trafficking, by definition, is the illegal trade of human beings through recruitment or abduction, by force or fraud, for the purpose of forced labor, sexual exploitation or debt bondage. Human trafficking is modern-day slavery. An estimated 2.5 million people are subject to forced labor caused by human trafficking. 1.4 million of them in the Asia-Pacific region alone. South Asia, Southeast Asia, and Eastern and Southern Europe are considered the epicenters. There are many different types of human trafficking. The two main groups are forced labor and sexual exploitation. They represent 75% of victims. Most victims of trafficking are young girls used to prostitution. But besides the usual forms of trafficking, there are other forms of trafficking that are overshadowed. People are trafficked for their organs. Imagine that. Being kidnapped from your home and forced to surgically remove organs like kidneys from your body so they can be sold on the black market. Or worse yet, imagine being deliberately abused or mutilated in order to receive more sympathy. This nightmare is all too real in the lives of thousands of young kit...... middle of paper ......ts of human trafficking, The act, the means and the goal. These three elements are essential for identifying cases of trafficking. I think the best thing we can do to end trafficking is to learn about it and teach it to others. After stopping a trafficking case, we need to provide immediate help to the victim, whether physical or mental. They should go to the doctor immediately. Most victims often suffer from dehydration and malnutrition. Once they are healthy again, they may need to talk to a therapist or be part of a small group with other victims. These people have experienced horrors that we cannot even imagine and it is our duty to help them. Human trafficking cannot be stopped in a day, or even in a year. This is going to take a lot of time and a lot of work. But by becoming aware and informing about it, we can put an end to this global epidemic.
