Summary This study relates to a case conducted at Faith Community Hospital to assess issues due to issues with their mission statement and way it is interpreted. According to the CEO of Faith Community Hospital, very few members and partners seem to follow the mission statement. There are issues related to organizational processes, ethical issues, and communication systems. Many staff members operate as individuals and not as a collective unit based on their values. Although the mission statement is the model that everyone should follow, not everyone thinks the same on every issue. We may all face a similar situation at some point, but the end result may be different for each individual because we all have different values and beliefs. There are many differences between ethics, laws, beliefs and oaths that affect all decisions of patients and staff alike. Some patients refuse to receive medical services and some staff refuse to provide certain services because of these values. Some staff care so much about patients that they sometimes take drastic stances to address their well-being. In these situations, medical intervention may conflict with personal religious beliefs or moral convictions. Hospital pharmacists even take positions they consider important, such as filling uninsured prescriptions by accepting installment payments. Intensive care staff members initiated do-not-resuscitate procedures without written orders. Doctors prioritize patients according to various interpretations. In “right to die” situations, doctors seem overly involved in compassion and passions toward their patients. We must stay focused on our jobs and what we promote, which is providing health care and services to community members. Counselors also treat some of their clients without authorization of their values and beliefs. On the other hand, some hospital staff refuse to serve patients unless they have confirmed insurance coverage. If a patient dies due to unauthorized decisions, it may cause a stir in the media as well as current or future patients in the community...
