Factors Influencing DietIn the three days that I have been following my diet, two main factors have recently changed my diet significantly. The first factor is a new medication I was prescribed for ADHD, Strattera; The most common side effect of Strattera is inhibition of appetite and hunger. Over the past week that I have been taking Strattera, I have not felt any hunger pangs. The other factor that may have contributed to these glaring deficiencies is the fact that my refrigerator broke a few days before I started tracking my diet, which made it more difficult to consume as much of the produce I usually eat. . Together, these two factors may have skewed my diet, for the worse. DRI Intake Goals The first thing I noticed about the DRI goals the programs had set for me was the whopping estimate that I would need 3,791,000 calories per day. In my opinion, this is an overestimate based on the activity level the program placed me at; If I were allowed, I would have placed myself more likely as sedentary, as I am a full-time student who studies and engages in school activities approximately 45-60 hours per given week. Other items that stand out in this goals spreadsheet are the required essential fatty acids and humidity goals, two things I often never underestimate the need for. I assume that humidity is related to the water content of the foods I eat. My Analysis of the Plate Of the three tables, I found this report the easiest to read and very informative. It really put things into perspective for me when he organized all the foods into food pyramid categories. It gave me insight in that it showed me which food groups my diet was lacking and which groups I was overeating. The group in middle of paper......in order to correct, I can take one of two approaches: 1) I can increase my portion sizes of each meal equally; or 2) I can add a variety of each type of nutrient. In my opinion, it would definitely be easier to increase my portion sizes rather than having to buy different types of foods. Conclusion To briefly conclude, I am really glad I took this course and this assignment, they both made me think about my own. food from a new and enlightened angle. What I understood from the project itself is that I always need to make sure I'm meeting my body's nutritional needs; It's extremely easy to miss out on essential nutrients when eating. This showed that I need to make sure I eat enough vegetables, oils, nuts and seeds, which my diet is often sorely lacking in. I will continue to monitor my own diet as this program does; in order to achieve lifelong sustenance and health.
