Essay / Niko Tinbergen's Four Questions - 1531
Consider at least two of Tinbergen's “four questions” in relation to filial imprinting. Tinbergen's "four questions" refers to a 1963 publication by Niko Tinbergen, one of the founding fathers of behavioral biology. (Giraldeau, 2012). In which he outlines four issues in the study of animal behavior, namely causality, development, function described as survival value and evolution. Although Tinbergen's questions were not original, since questions of causality, function, and evolution had already been addressed previously by biologist Julian Huxley, Tinbergen added a fourth question to the study of animal behavior regarding development (Giraldeau, 2012). The four questions are divided into two. categories of proximate or causal questions and ultimate or functional questions, and are often called the four whys as opposed to questions. The questions covered different perspectives regarding animal behavior, such as function: examining the extent to which an animal's behavior has adapted to its survival, for example birds flying south for the winter to secure a source viable food. While also relying on Darwin's theory of evolution to describe a trait that results in reproductive success, with the understanding that survival can not only be that of the fittest but also the most adaptable species, as well as the functions that the animal assumes to ensure optimal success. Tinbergen questions Phylogeny examines evolutionary explanations for development, as opposed to how behavior has adapted, including mutations in response to environmental changes. Some of these mutations remain in the species even after the necessity has passed and may influence the future characteristics of that species. The third of Tinbergen's questions concerns causality,...... in the middle of the article... the additional question of ...... shows that the study of behaviors such as filial imprinting n 'is not defined, and additional questions and further developments will be necessary. provide a better understanding of practices.BibliographyBateson, PKN.., 2013.
