    Sex education versus abstinence-only programs in United States public schools has for many years been a controversial topic among parents and authorities educational. Many questions have arisen from this controversial topic, whether abstinence-only programs actually help reduce teen pregnancies; prevent the spread of sexually transmitted diseases; or give teens the health information they need to know about their sex lives going forward. Sex education seems, after studies and debates, to be the most effective method for solving these problems. In the fall of 2016, if Democrats are in power, this will result in the passage of the bill to amend Title V of the Social Security Act to eliminate abstinence-only educational programs. Therefore, the billions of dollars in funding currently devoted to pure abstinence programs could be used to improve sex education in public schools in the United States. The bill to amend Title V of the Social Security Act to eliminate the abstinence-only education program is also referred to as "Repealing the Ineffective Abstinence Program Funding Act of 2011 and incomplete only.” This legislation is subject to review by the Committee on Energy and Commerce and the Committee on Appropriations. (“HR1085 to Amend Title V of the Social Security Act to Eliminate the Abstinence Only Education Program” 1-7). If the Pg2 Democrats are in power in the fall of 2016, this bill will pass. As a result, abstinence programs will be banned and replaced with sex education programs in public schools across the United States.
