    Workplace DevianceWorkplace deviance is willful, unethical behavior that disobeys organizational norms regarding right and wrong and in doing so , threatens the well-being of the organization and/or its members (Robinson and Bennett 555-572). According to Robinson and Bennett, “deviant behavior in the workplace varies along two dimensions: minor versus serious, and interpersonal (deviant behavior directed at other individuals in the organization) versus organizational (deviant behavior directed at the organization). )” (555-572). Based on these dimensions, it was divided into four categories: production deviance (premature departure, waste of resources, etc.), property deviance (theft, destruction of equipment, etc.), political deviance (gossip, favoritism, etc.) and personal aggression (verbal violence, sexual harassment, etc.) (Robinson and Bennett 555-572). According to Robinson and Bennett, deviant workplace behavior costs American businesses approximately $6 billion to $200 billion per year (555-572). Additionally, employee turnover, absences and illnesses lead to low or reduced productivity, low morale and litigation. Workplace deviance leads to misuse and waste of time, wasted resources, and increased employee numbers (Robinson and Bennett 555-572). deviance is the use of one's influence to harm others in an organization. This occurs in many workplaces under the name "company policy" and is considered a form of workplace deviance. Political deviance takes many different forms such as favoritism, spreading rumors, falsely blaming colleagues, and much more. These deviant acts contribute to a negative work environment that breeds a hostile work environment, demoralizing employee morale and destroying member-leaders and/or employee-managers... middle of paper ...... employee turnover .
