  • Essay / Book Review of Drift to Shift by Jody B. Miller

From Drift to Shift by Jody B. Miller is an inspiring, powerful, and must-read for everyone! If you have ever gone through, are currently going through, or will one day go through a period of transformation in your life (hint: you will!), this book is for you. The author dives deep into his own and others' struggles, and examines how difficult situations can lead to the best life transformations. This book reminds us that no matter what happens to us in our lives, we have the ability to make the best of any situation. This is truly a book that every human being can relate to and should be read by everyone. Say no to plagiarism. Get a tailor-made essay on “Why Violent Video Games Should Not Be Banned”? Get an original essay The book focuses on several people who have experienced the lowest of lows and yet, against all odds, turned their experiences into success. An abandoned, poverty-stricken child becomes an educated and successful businesswoman, who creates a nonprofit organization to help children like her. A cancer survivor uses her experiences to help others through physical activity. In another, a serious injury leads to the discovery of an impressive talent, just to name a few. Rather than letting challenges lead to despair, each person in this book decided to make the most of their situation in their own way. I particularly enjoyed the author's recollection of hardships, his journey from the lows of life to the highs and all the changes in between. His experience with the Amazonian Achuar tribe was truly inspiring. After each person's story, she nicely summarizes the key points of their journey. She reminds us that it's okay to experience drifting moments, to be brave, to believe in yourself and, above all, to enjoy the journey! Life will get better. I rate this book 3 stars out of 4. I really enjoyed the content, getting to know each person's story and how they overcame their struggles. This is a book I will read again, probably several times. There were occasional errors throughout, which is the only reason I'm giving From Drift to Shift three stars instead of four. Overall, I highly recommend this book to anyone who can relate to the feeling of feeling lost in life, afraid of the unknown, or remaining in a position in life where you may be unhappy , but comfortable. The inspiring stories in this book might just be the push you need to move on to a life you love.!
