Essay / Periodontal disorders and stress - 2482
Introduction: Although the correlation between anxiety states, stress and the occurrence of periodontal disorders has been reported, additional research on other psychological signs seems necessary. The objective of this study was to compare the psychological signs of patients with chronic periodontitis with healthy people. Method: In a cross-sectional study, 40 patients with chronic periodontitis and 40 healthy individuals aged 20 to 40 years who could read and write participated. The clinical examinations were carried out by a single examiner. The psychological evaluation was carried out by SCL-90-R questionnaire. This study was carried out in 2011 in the city of Zahedan (eastern Iran). All statistical analyzes were performed using SPSS software version 19. Comparison between groups was performed using independent t test and ANOVA where appropriate. Results: There was a statistically significant difference in the mean scores of 9 psychological disorders between the study groups, but this difference was not psychologically significant. The mean global severity index score in patients was higher than in healthy people, which was statistically and psychologically significant. After separating individuals into four age groups (20-25 years, 26-30 years, 31-35 years, 36-40 years), it was indicated that among 31-35 year olds, the average anxiety scores phobic, depression and anxiety were statistically higher. and psychologically significant between the study groups. Conclusion: This study can be used as a guide for other studies, including longitudinal studies in people aged 31 to 35 for data collection. (This is not a good conclusion. The conclusion should be based on the results of this study)Keywords: psychological disorders, SCL-90, chronic periodontitis, healthy person...... middle of article ......re There is no comparable dental research but, after dividing the participants into four age groups, it was indicated that among 31-35 year olds, the average phobic anxiety score, of depression and anxiety was statistically and psychologically different between patients and healthy groups. Periodontal disease has long-term health consequences and, therefore, it is likely that a chronic pattern of adverse psychological effects is required. to have measurable disease. (this sentence is not understandable) As our results come from a cross-sectional study, they need to be supplemented by additional studies, particularly longitudinal ones, to confirm the results. However, the result of this study can be used as a guide to decide which important measures, especially in the age groups 31–35 years, to include in longitudinal data collection studies. (I don't understand this part either)
