  • Essay / Workplace Control Mechanisms - 1491

Workplace control mechanisms will assist in the development of planning for customer satisfaction and measurable steps for improvement. Every business must develop and use some sort of control mechanism to operate effectively and efficiently. This article will explore four different types of control mechanisms used by various departments of two companies – Dixon Sanitary and WE Energies. In doing so, the authors will identify, compare and contrast these mechanisms and determine whether these mechanisms are effective by examining positive and negative reactions to these control mechanisms, and explain how these control mechanisms influenced the four management functions. Dixon Sanitary uses numerous controlled mechanisms throughout its business days. A control mechanism used at Dixon Sanitary is called “one berry a day.” This is a proactive rather than reactive procedure to ensure the quality and accuracy of customer order processing. At the start of each day, the warehouse manager selects a bay from the warehouse racking system to count. This is normally done successively rather than just selecting a berry at random. Each part located in the bay appears on a printed form with the location and quality of parts that each must meet. A warehouse worker would count the entire area for the number of parts on site and compare the actual number to what the system says it has on hand. If the counts do not match, a second person will recount all the parts in the bay for which discrepancies occurred. Workers would then check for any missing pieces that may have been placed in the wrong place. If parts are still missing, the division manager may approve an inventory adjustment which will be made middle of paper...... when services are provided. Its control mechanism is based on the stages of system development, with different departments performing different tasks to serve customers. Dixon, on the other hand, uses the point system to give employees the opportunity to take leadership initiatives to determine for themselves how much they want. benefit from the company's points accumulation system for paid time off and profit-sharing opportunities. This tool helps the management of Dixon to put the burden back on the shoulders of the employees, where the managers can relax somewhat thanks to the mechanism of controlling human resources and quality productions. The design of the four tools discussed above is essential in planning the impact of the measure from the beginning, whether it is from the start of employment to the start of each work day, or until to the final result of achievements in terms of quality and satisfaction..
