Essay / Adlerian Psychology: Theory of Human Behavior - 1053
An Adlerian is anyone who applies the ideals and principles of Alfred Adler in their work; this is not limited to just psychologists or counselors, but rather applies to several professions such as teachers or doctors. I am an Adlerian because by studying at the Adler School of Professional Psychology, I can rest assured knowing that upon graduation, I will have a deep understanding of integrating Adlerian principles into my counseling profession. The Adlerian principles according to the NASAP newsletter (2004) “Adlerian psychology-theory of human behavior” can be divided into different components: lifestyle, social integration, phenomenology, teleology, unique creativity, feelings of inferiority, search for superiority, vertical and level search and holism. anchored in all these components. As noted, Adler had different principles and ideals, so if I had to choose just one that I hold dear to my heart, it would be difficult to choose. Yet, in this article, I will focus on a few particular things that are dear to me and, finally, I will select the one that is most meaningful. I hope to use this as a basic representation of the ideals that I will apply in my work as an Adlerian practitioner. As an Adlerian practitioner, one of the ideals I see myself applying in counseling sessions would be lifestyle analysis. A lifestyle explains a client's personality; it fits into the belief system that a client develops as a child during their early years and within their family system. Once a practitioner understands a client's lifestyle, he or she can help explain the client's worldview, goals, and how the client copes with challenges. Personally, I have always considered that lifestyle analysis is important,...... middle of paper ......lifestyle analysis directly and indirectly to better understand the journey and the past of my clients, thus helping to reshape and encourage them. think about their future. In conclusion, it is important to realize that all constructs connect to each other through holism. Holism explains each of Adler's principles as they concern understanding people in relation to the whole environment or systems. I think we should respect holism; it is certainly a principle that also applies to different fields, such as medicine. In our generation, holism and healthcare is currently an emerging trend, with research proving the benefits, so the fact that Alfred Adler created his psychology based on holism is reason to believe that he was indeed at the beyond its caliber, as a result, many people can benefit from it. practice or recognize Adlerian principles in their work.
