    This chapter explains how we understand arguments based on character work. This shows us how we tend to accept the arguments of those we trust, and we trust them, whether individuals, groups, or institutes, because of their reputation. Like experts, anyone with knowledge and experience on the subject. Ethos the self-presentation that a writer or speaker brings to an argument. Ethos is created in two ways, at present: language, evidence, respect and interaction with the public. The second comes from the past through: reputation, work and values. The three main elements, trustworthiness/credibility, authority, and altruistic or clear motives, also add up to ethos. We also learn not to keep a reader skeptical. Trust is the key to everything in our society and in this chapter I think it's really important for all arguments. Trusting and knowing the author is a necessity for arguing
