Essay / Capturing and Deploying an Image - 1599
The objective of this document will be to install an operating system over a network on one or more computers by creating an image. There are several ways to install an operating system on a computer. The method chosen depends on the installer's situation. One scenario would be if the installer only processes a single computer that requires an operating system to be installed. The other scenario is where multiple computers require operating systems to be installed simultaneously. An operating system is a set of programs that manage the computer's hardware resources and provide common services for application software. (Operating Systems) Without the operating system, a computer could not function. Applications would not be able to function because there is no operating system to control their function. The operating system also acts as a communicator for the application software and computer hardware. Both components must know what each does to function properly, and the operating system provides this service. The first scenario for installing an operating system would be the need to install one on a single computer. This can be done with a disk containing the base operating system. This can also be done by deploying an image created from a configured reference computer or the target computer before it becomes corrupted. If the operating system is installed on the computer via a base operating system CD, then the drivers for that operating system will need to be installed via another CD. This is the case if the operating system is older than Microsoft Vista. If the operating system being installed is Microsoft Vista or newer, then the operating system drivers are already in the middle of paper...... the backup allowed an operating system to be installed more easily on many computers. Without the benefit of being able to deploy an image over a network, upgrading operating systems in an office would be a very long, tiring, and tedious project.Works CitedDisk Cloning. 23 1 2012 .Disk image.
