However, I think now our school is very skills based. The most difficult courses were determined by tests that had to be taken and passed, and with the current academic system we are always preparing for the future. While this is beneficial, I sometimes think we get caught up in learning the skills and “mechanics” of schooling instead of personal development. Now we are also very motivated artistically and sportingly. I believe that in music, art, extracurricular activities and sports we learn more about ourselves than in the classroom. Since our school encourages them, we can develop ourselves personally thanks to them. This helps balance schoolwork and skills-based classes. I think in my education there has been a good balance because not only am I learning the skills I will need to be successful in life. I am also growing as a person in the way I learn and think. I think it's important to have personal development because no matter how much you know, you should always know how to learn in a way that suits you and be able to adapt and experience whatever life throws at you.
