Essay / Lady Macbeth - 1174
The character Lady Macbeth is one of the most important and infamous characters in English literature. The first time we see Lady Macbeth is in her castle reading a letter from Macbeth in Act 1, Scene 5. From this point on, she does everything she can to help Macbeth to become king of Scotland. Even if it means killing King Duncan. She is filled with absolute evil. She possesses a strength of character that seems out of place in a woman of her time, and yet, at the end of the play, she comes out in tragic circumstances, dramatically ending her own life. The first time we meet Lady Macbeth, she is reading a letter from her husband Macbeth who is returning from the war. Macbeth called her “my greatest partner in greatness.” This tells me that their relationship is based on love and that Macbeth trusts her because he calls her “Partner” and not just Wife. In the 1500s this would be considered unusual as women were treated as 2nd class citizens compared to men, they were only required to do housework and care for the family. Lady Macbeth knows Macbeth very well and how Lady Macbeth reacts to the letter. it is because she is afraid that Macbeth will not be able to carry out his plan, by killing King Duncan. “He is too full of the milk of human kindness to take the nearest path”, this means that he has too good a heart towards others and would not have it in him to kill the king. He's just not evil enough as Lady Macbeth for this kind of act. “Illness should accompany him.” When Lady Macbeth is on the tower of her castle waiting for her husband Macbeth to come home, Lady Macbeth asks middle of paper ......dy Macbeth knows Macbeth very well. well because she knew that if she contradicted his manly hood, then he would do whatever she asked him to do, he would. At first when Lady Macbeth was trying to convince Macbeth to carry out the murder she was really frustrated because she just wanted to be queen now, she was even crying trying to do what she wanted. But in the end, she said the right thing at the right time. But after convincing him he is afraid to fail but she tells him to make him brave and then they won't fail "but screw your courage to the point and we won't fail. She also tells him that 'she has everything ready and they just have to wait until everyone goes to bed and goes to sleep "I am installed and I subject every bodily agent to this terrible feat." quoted in the book Macbeth
