Understanding that cultural competence is acquired over a long period of time made me wonder how I could be culturally sensitive to other people from different cultures without making assumptions about their culture or without treating each customer as if they are from the same culture or position as me. Which brings me back to my question of how someone can be culturally competent but in a different mindset than their country.
