Its story of adventure, magic and suspense captivates people of all ages. The equally popular Shakespearean masterpiece, The Tempest, is also a story of adventure, magic and suspense. Not only do their genres have a similar direction; their characters do it too. Caliban and Gollum are similar because: they are both created from a dark source, both have similar physical characteristics, and they also have very similar personalities. The characters from Lord of the Rings are particularly similar to the characters from The Tempest. This is especially true for the two characters, Caliban and Gollum. Both characters were born the same way. In The Lord of the Rings, Gollum was a hobbit, a smaller human-like person named Sméagol. He finds the One Ring, a mystical ring that Sauron, a dark lord, creates to be able to control the world. He is controlled by the ring and becomes obsessed with it. In The Tempest, Caliban is the son of a witch, Sycorax, and his father is the devil, according to Prospero. “You, poisonous slave, obtained by the devil himself/On your wicked mother, come out!” (I, ii, 391-393) Both characters are created from black magic and dark people. Another similarity between Caliban and Gollum lies in their physical characteristics. Both are described as monster-like, particularly Caliban, who is repeatedly called a monster by Trinculo. "I would laugh to death at this puppy-faced monster. Scorbutic monster! I could find it in my heart to beat him..." (II, ii, 163-165) Gollum is also described as a "miserable creature" (book 1, ...... middle of paper ...... adore this fool " (V, i, 357-360). Gollum also shows a certain gentleness, especially to Frodo and Sam. he caresses! Frodo's knee. "Then he came back, and slowly reaching out with a trembling hand, he very cautiously touched Frodo's knee - but the touch was almost a caress...would any of the sleepers have seen it, would they have "They thought they saw a tired old hobbit..." In conclusion, Caliban and Gollum are similar because they are created by dark sources, they have physical similarities and because they both behave the same way. same way The two characters, although placed in different storylines and worlds, have similarities a deep physical and physiological connection The argument that Gollum was perhaps based on Caliban is stronger than it is. it seems. Many books and films are based on the works of Shakespeare, so perhaps this is just one of many..
