Relationship between CAR 66 and PART MCAR66 – is part of the GCAA Civil Aviation Regulations which provides for aircraft maintenance licensing. This includes the compliance requirement for each license category as well as the privileges in exercising the use of these aircraft maintenance licenses. AMEL PRIVILEGES AND CATEGORIES The UAE GCAA CAR66 – AMEL is broadly classified into the Mechanical and Avionics trades. Mechanical licenses are then divided into subcategories based on the various technological combinations applicable to different types of aircraft and the two levels of privileged authorizations permitted by the license either to act as a line maintenance certifying mechanic or to title of certifying engineer. The two levels of permissions and privileges depend on the complexity of the task and are supported by different levels of experience and knowledge. A person may hold any combination of license categories. CAR 66 – VALIDITY AND RENEWAL AMEL PROCEDURE CAR-66 licenses are valid for 8 years from the date of issue or last renewal . Applicants must apply for license renewal from GCAA at least 30 days before the expiration date on the appropriate form accompanied by the original license and a cover letter from current/current employer. The GCAA will continue to renew licenses as long as licensees are working. in a relevant aeronautical environment.
