    When a plea bargain is used, everyone in the court benefits greatly because it saves time and resources by avoiding a track (Haberman, Loopholes). This wasn't covered in the reading or class notes, but I think the most important reason plea bargaining is used is that it saves money. A trail costs money, even a lot of money. Everyone playing a role in a trial receives some form of payment for their services. For Ohio common pleas courts, the people in the courtroom who are paid are the judge, the prosecutor, members of the judge's staff, members of the jury, and, in some circumstances, experts in law. the matter who were called by the State to testify, and that doesn't even include the final cost to the defendant. Finally, the courts would not be adequately staffed if there was in fact a ban on plea bargaining and cases were brought to trial. The time invested in each trial would eventually take its toll on everyone involved.
