    King describes the basis of American values, asserting that America's purpose is liberty and, by nature, America's destiny parallels equality for all, because the ultimate goal of both parties is freedom. King goes on to say that freedom will definitely be won because “our nation's sacred heritage and God's eternal will are embodied in our echoing demands” (King 6). Overall, King argues that all laws in America must be arrived at democratically and that, until then, laws that are not voluntarily accepted by the minority are unjust and can be broken, until the minority or the underrepresented minority (Alabama) has a proportional vote on the issue, in a democratic manner
