The “Burqa Ban” In society, people are afraid of what they do not know or understand. Today, this fear has become a major subject. This caused a clash between two very different cultures, traditional Islamic culture and Western society. Some Muslim women want to wear the burqa and other veils for religious and cultural purposes, Western society wants to ban them on the grounds that they are oppressive to women. As a woman, having the right to wear whatever I want based on my culture is not oppressive. In Western society, skirts and dresses are traditionally women's clothing. A ban on these garments would be considered ridiculous, no different from the ban on the Muslim veil. The burqa may be considered oppressive to women, but "the ban on the burqa" is part of the Islamic religion and culture, and it is something that should be a woman's choice whether to wear it or not. don't wear it. The main reason Muslim women choose to wear the veil is because it allows a woman to be taken seriously and respected for her inner beauty and spirit opposed to her body (Friedman 39). This belief is something that many Muslim women were taught from a young age. In Western society, Islamic culture seems male dominated because women wear more clothes. From a Muslim's perspective, it may seem like Western society is male-dominated because women are expected to wear less clothing. People's views on what is right and what is wrong have a lot to do with the culture they grow up in and what they are taught. Many Muslims learn that Islam is more than a religion, but a complete way of life (Dudley 44). Wearing the religious veil is part of the lives of many Muslim women. Their religion is not something they can pretend not to be a part of when they are in public, and many are not willing to do so. The religious veil is a symbol of a Muslim woman's dedication to her faith and her self-respect. In society, there are many ways to express oneself, and the Islamic face veil is just one of them.
