Jamieson Dale, a forty-year-old massage therapist and yoga teacher, writes in his book: “If I had my time again, I wouldn't have surgery. I would go to therapy” (Dale, 2009). After Dale's first surgery, removing the bags under her eyes, not only was she unhappy with the outcome of the procedure, but she also thought it could be fixed by doing another one elsewhere, and this cycle continued fourteen more times. Fortunately, after planning her suicide, Jamieson Dale had an epiphany and realized that she had to learn to live with the face and body she had and end the vicious cycle of procedures. Additionally, many people are susceptible to becoming addicted to plastic surgery. Some, like Dale, become addicted after never being satisfied with the results and have a constant desire to fix them, others love it too much, making them believe that more surgeries will make them look even better. The authors of an Australian medical journal covering cosmetic procedures state: “Some people are never satisfied with cosmetic procedures, despite good results. Some of them suffer from a psychiatric disorder called “body dysmorphic disorder” (Castle, et al, 2002).
