Through divine revelation, God has chosen to use the eternal communication and decisions of his will concerning the salvation of men. In his goodness and wisdom, God chose to reveal himself and make known to us the hidden purpose of his will by which, through Christ, the word made flesh, man can, in the Holy Spirit, access the Father and come to participate in the divine nature. Through the Word of God, God creates all things and maintains them all in existence. The plan of revelation is realized through actions and words with inner unity. The acts accomplished by God in salvation history manifest and confirm the teaching and realities signified by the words. Words proclaim deeds and clarify the mystery they contain. The Catholic faith is based on divine revelation, therefore, in God's goodness, he has ensured that salvation is passed down to all generations. This is why Jesus told the apostles to preach that the gospel is the truth and is saving, but in order to keep the gospel forever and holy within the Church, the apostles left the bishops as their successors.
