Essay / A Look at Marriage - 712
The notion of devoting one's life entirely to another, vowing to love and cherish, to have and hold, from this day forward, for the best, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, till death do them part, this is nothing new in recent or ancient times. This concept of bringing two people together and unifying them into one is present on every continent and in almost every culture. Since marriage is an international, intercultural, and interracial act, this period of celebration begins and unfolds in ways unique to each sect of the world, although some are stranger and stranger than others. Among the most frightening is the marriage of the dead. However, before marriage can even be planned, the partner or potential partner must be attracted. Against all odds, when a member of the human race has their mind set on a goal, there are very few ways they won't do to get what they want, even if it means maiming and/or or distort one's own body. No matter where a person moves in this world, no matter what tribe, country or city, beauty is valued almost above all else, but what is considered beautiful shifts and changes, it all depends on the place. However, there is one other thing that does not change. What a person is willing to endure must be considered of striking quality. For millions of women in China, this meant suffering the barbaric act and tradition of foot binding. It begins during a normal day in a girl's early childhood. She is only five years old. His mother filled a bathtub with crimson blood that, until recently, flowed through the veins of an animal. Her mother calls to her as she adds herbs to the liquid. The mother then massages her daughter... in the middle of a paper... y, intertwining two souls forever. For the majority of the human race, the ultimate goal of mating is to find the person in whom they wish to merge their separate lives into one. In other words, marriage. To achieve this status as one half of a truly greater whole, members of the human race do not stop at ruffling feathers or displaying the natural and favorable aspects of their bodies in brazen display. For a human who does not possess the attributes that their culture possesses, in light of respect and awe, most are willing to grit their teeth and submit to tortures that seem unimaginably stupid and trivial to those who find themselves outside the intangible line of ethnic boundaries. Even more, others will come from beyond the grave to obtain the universally esteemed marital status. One thing is clear: for the prospect of marriage, humans will endure.
