    The post-war period was a time when major changes were occurring. After being involved in two international conflicts, Canada was ready to restore its economy. During this period, Canada had begun to look for ways to become stronger and more reputable. It is evident that Canada has matured in the post-war period. Canada's economic progress had a positive impact on the country's growth as consumerism became popular and economic ties with America strengthened. Additionally, the elimination of racial and ethical barriers contributed to Canadian social affairs such as the huge wave of immigration and the baby boom. The Canadian government has also become more aware and involved in issues affecting Canadian citizens. Canada as a whole began to identify itself as an independent nation and participate in events that earned it a positive reputation. These economic, social and legal changes have helped Canada become the country it is today. The economic progress made by Canada after the war led to the country's growth. New industries emerged through product innovation such as automobiles, radios, television, digital computers, and electric typewriters (Aitken et al., 315). Canadians quickly adapted to the “buy now, pay later” strategy rather than conservative budgeting during the Great Depression (Liverant). Almost everything Canadians did was influenced by new inventions; television was the most influential. The conversations, humor and lifestyle of Canadians have been influenced by television (Aitken et al., 315). Trade relations between the United States and Canada had become more efficient thanks to the St. Lawrence Seaway.
