  • Essay / Advances in Wireless Technology - 943

The world has seen many changes over time. Thanks to advancements in technology, people can communicate with people all over the world without even having to lift a finger. To make things more efficient and reduce costs, industries have made technology wireless. Wireless technology gives people the ability to get up from their desktop computer or landline phone and move around freely without restrictions. Computer science, or information technology, has become a standard and very critical part of today's society. Wireless technology has evolved from basic cellular usage to sensors in the medical field. Cables are now a thing of the past in today's world with ever-revitalizing technology. Wi-Fi (wireless networking) or 802.11 is a phenomenal way to provide low-cost wireless Internet. Using radio waves, a wireless network connects a PC, cell phone, or just about anything that connects to the Internet wirelessly through a router. By transmitting signals at 2.4 or 5 GHz, this allows the waves to transmit more data at a faster rate. Typical Wi-Fi standards are 802.11a, b, g, n or ac and they can change the frequency depending on the model (Brain). Families can create their own wireless network that can be shared among family members without having to connect all their devices to the modem and can also protect their home network from potential hackers through the use of TKIP or AES. Businesses can also create a “hotspot,” an area with free or fixed-fee wireless networks. This is extremely convenient for commuters who need Internet access while they are at work, waiting on a plane, or just sitting at a coffee shop without the need for wires (Cox) . Cellular...... middle of paper... ...software in terms of the device contains the little computer chip with the Bluetooth, but it needs software to connect via Bluetooth. All types of technology, from medical and healthcare devices like sensors to smartphones, computers and tablets, use Bluetooth technology to make life easier and more efficient. Without wireless technology, people would be tied to one place where they can access the Internet. People all over the world prefer wireless technology because it is simple, hassle-free and offers more mobility. Things like wireless power transfer and wireless video streaming, something you would see in a 70s comic book, are now becoming prevalent in today's world. Advances in wireless technology are just beginning and soon cables will be a thing of the past and a new dawn will approach us with wireless capabilities faster than fiber optics..
