Essay / Government of North Korea: Fear among citizens - 514
The citizens of North Korea stand no chance against its oppressive government; fear and uncertainty dictate the mood of the country. The country of North Korea is in danger. The video recounts how massive rains caused harvest failures and forced many North Koreans to go hungry. The video describes how a family ate hot clay and tree bark for their evening meal, just to have something on their bellies. North Korea has closed its borders and will not associate with prosperous South Korea. Oppression is being waged against North Koreans through propaganda, lies, closed societies, repression and scapegoating. These five elements are linked into one, LIES! From the moment they are born, North Koreans are brainwashed. They are told complete fabrications about South Korea and the United States. The North Korean government insists to its young people that it has a god as its leader, it blames the United States for its peril, its tourism is terrible, and if they denounce the government, well, there are camps for this. The North Korean government makes the country believe that it is one of the strongest and most prosperous of the two (North and South). North Korea stands out from the rest of East Asia. The future I predict for North Korea is uncertain, it is on the path to disaster. East Asia is a very populated region. The region's economic growth is phenomenal; they integrate technology and make long-term plans for the future. North Korea is the only exclusion. North Korea is poor, isolated and seems to have little understanding of reality. North Korean leaders are focused on dictatorship and tactical measures to make other countries believe they are superior. Their video shows the poor conditions in which every North Korean has to live. They force their children to dance and do gymnastics, thanks to my intervention, in case a tourist comes. I expect a collapse of the North Korean government, a more serious economic collapse, and the outbreak of civil war. I don't believe in the old adage "history repeats itself", but I do believe that we can learn from the mistakes of other countries. I think North Korea should take a look at Syria and take note of how the protesters are rebelling against the central government. America and South Korea have different positions on how they should handle problems arising in North Korea..
