    The word of the year 2013 was the word “Selfie”, which is quickly sending photos to oneself. Technology has come a long way. Most people have a cell phone and a landline. I think in the distant future, cell phones could replace desktop computers. I have a cell phone that I use to communicate with friends and family. I also like to spend time watching television. I receive the shows I watch via modem. Modems transmit information. I love listening to the radio and hearing music from previous decades. Radios are a form of information technology. My laptop is used to write down my book ideas. I have both a Facebook account and a Twitter account. They are dormant but I can use them to interact with my friends and family who live in other areas. The Internet is also an example of information technology. I sometimes like to surf the internet to catch up on my favorite shows or search for something that interests me. Information is constantly shared on the Internet. The websites I sometimes visit, like Wikipedia, are edited by people from all over the world. They can edit a website from their own home. I can also watch TV and movies via the Internet. I like to use search engines such as Yahoo and Google. These are databases of information. I'm looking for videos on YouTube. Again, people from all over the world share videos on this site.
