    Leadership, as defined in Wikipedia, is “a process of social influence in which a person can seek the help and support of others in accomplishment of a common task. In Dale Carnegie's leadership training manual, leadership is defined as "creating an environment that influences others to achieve group goals." In both definitions, two fundamental elements of leadership stand out: influence and group goal/common task. Leadership then involves the ability to influence others to do something for the group, for the community and not just for oneself. This is my Waterloo. I'm not very good at influencing people. So I had little confidence in myself to be a good leader. With SLP, I built this confidence little by little. With SLP, I learned to know myself better. I realized that what sustained me as a leader was pure bravado, a projection that I was the hero who could make the Division better; who could give people what they deserve. And I've worked very hard to maintain that image, to give our people what they want. Until I'm tired and exhausted. Until complaints and problems arise. Until other demands are not met. Then I became an autocratic leader, telling everyone what to do, making them do what they were told because I was in the leadership position.
