  • Essay / Augmented reality and the future of multimedia

IntroductionWhat does “augmented reality” mean? AR is the acronym for augmented reality. A rough definition of augmentation is to maximize or modify to a greater extent. Augmented reality, which is a type of virtual reality, essentially means that real-world environments are duplicated in a computer. A combination of reality and virtual scenes, created a composite view for the end user that is generated by the computer. The computer with the augmented reality system augments the real world view or scene with additional information. The design of the virtual scene created by the computer aims to improve the user's sensory perception of the virtual world with which he interacts or which he sees. A system in which a user cannot tell the difference between the real world and the virtual augmentation of the real world is the goal of augmented reality. In today's world, many industries are using augmented reality in their products or programs, including the entertainment industry, robotics, engineering design, manufacturing, military training and other industries. The History of Augmented Reality Morton Heilig was the first thinker of virtual reality (VR). The cinematography experience he had was applied and over several years starting in 1957, he created the Sensorama, a motorcycle simulator, with the help of his partner. The Sensorama was patented in 1962. Four years later, in 1966, head-mounted displays were invented by Ivan Sutherland. He suggested it was a window into a virtual world. Videoplace, the name given to an artificial reality laboratory, was created by Myron Kruger in the mid-1970s. The idea he had was to create an artificial reality that surrounds users and...... in the middle of paper ......ns that it is fully functional as intended. While we may not be able to predict the future, it's safe to say that augmented reality is the future of multimedia. Works Cited Stephen Cawood and Mark Fiala (2007).
