Mobile apps may have been foreign before the year 2000, but since then their popularity has skyrocketed. With the advent of the iPhone, the world witnessed a shift towards "smart phones", leaving traditional cell phones behind. The most distinguishing feature between the two was the smartphone's ability to download and run these mobile apps. With Andriod, iOS, Windows Phone, BlackBerry and more mobile operating systems supporting mobile apps, it's no surprise that 2013 saw more new apps developed than any previous year. In the recent past, mobile computing has become more popular than desktop computing, at least when it comes to interacting with the World Wide Web. A stellar chart provided by Flurry Analytics illustrates what I mean very well. As you can see, mobile computing is more important than ever and it would be good for a business to develop an application that can be used on these mobile platforms. a way to reach their customers. Another advantage of mobile apps is that they are incredibly versatile. There are literally millions of mobile apps that do a number of amazing things. We have banking apps that allow a user to deposit a check into their account via a photo, airline apps that allow passengers to literally download their boarding passes to their phone, and apps that allow you to view and to remotely control HD cameras from your phone. This is in addition to the countless games, social media apps and music players available for download. Mobile apps have come a long way in a short time, but there are limitations that we have had to overcome and still face today. Like... middle of paper... it's important to them and I personally know a few people who own a smartphone even though they don't own a personal computer. Mobile app development is something that I consider very important and will only become more integrated into our society in the years to come!
