According to Dr. T. Colin Campbell, “no carcinogenic chemical is as important in causing cancer in humans as animal proteins.” There are nine categories of vegetarianism that include many different diets such as vegan, raw food, and macrobiotic (ProQuest) diets. The different categories of vegetarianism you can choose from depend on your body type and lifestyle (Preyss Pro). Not being vegetarian can lead to obesity, disease and harm animals. These problems can be solved by serving more vegetarian foods in public places. While vegetarians lead healthy lifestyles, meat eaters increase their chances of becoming obese. David Graham interviewed Kathy Rayner, who said: “Good health is not a coincidence, it is a choice. You have to be intentional about it.” Daniel Hoy claims that vegetarians are thinner and have a lower body mass index than meat eaters, which decreases the risk of chronic diseases and increases lifespan in humans. “Being aware and informed about food and its impact on your body is what constitutes a healthy diet” –Lauren Burns (Hoy). Vegetarian men have an average lifespan of eighty-three years, nine and a half times longer than the average man. Vegetarian women have an average lifespan of eighty-five years, six times longer than average (Graham). Heather Moore claims that vegetarians are nine times less likely to be obese and forty percent less likely to have cancer. A third of common types of cancer are linked to obesity and laziness (Moore). Naturally, being obese increases your risk of developing diseases.
