  • Essay / Listening and Watching Louis CK - 661

As I began to think about what I would write in this article, I struggled to remember the things that made me laugh. So I called some of my family members and received some interesting feedback! My grandmother told me I had a little glow worm and every time it lit up I thought it was hilarious. My mom told me that I loved having my picture taken and I thought it was really funny to see myself after the pictures were finished. I don't remember the first joke I heard. My favorite joke now is: “What do you call a fake noodle?” » “A paste!” I remember telling this joke my freshman year of high school and I still laugh every time I tell it. Looking at the origin of my sense of humor, I can definitely name some people who made my sense of humor what it is today. My parents are definitely two of the funniest people I know. From my mother, I get my stupid side. My mom is always awkward and she always speaks in random voices, which I do a lot. My dad is really sarcastic and I really like him in that aspect. I also find myself doing random little quirks that I see my friends doing. One thing that has significantly changed my sense of humor is swear words. I always knew how to make people laugh and make myself laugh. However, it wasn't until my sophomore year of high school that I was really introduced to swearing. Now that I'm in college and away from adults most of the time, I find myself swearing a lot more than before. But from a different perspective, I think swear words make everything a lot funnier. I don't know what's wrong with them but they never cease to make me laugh! I don't really think I'm intentionally trying to develop my sense of humor. However, my feeling... middle of paper... hey, it seems real to me. I think this quote from Louis CK completely describes my experience with his stand-up. I don't really think I'd like Louis CK to be a person outside of the scene. Most of the things he says I repel or disagree with (family and children). So I'm not necessarily intrigued by him as a person, but rather by how his stories can make me laugh. I love how, when I watch him get up, I never really know what he's going to do the next day. I know it will be hysterical, but he tells a wide range of stories, which makes his performances ambiguous for the audience. I consider Louis' work worth it because he makes me laugh. After a hard day of school, it's nice to hear someone curse about random, real-life situations. I really enjoyed listening to and watching Louis CK. I think it's hilarious and I will definitely watch it in the future.
