The liberal arts are essential to success in the professional world. It is based on the idea that a person needs to understand ethics, science and the arts. As a marketer, understanding people is an important skill for marketers to acquire. Marketing significantly caters to different types of people across the world. Not everyone is the same, liberal arts offers courses that help open the public's minds and raise awareness of their different environments. Attending a liberal arts college such as Quincy University provides the opportunity to see things from a different perspective and can promote open-mindedness. Ethics is a field of study that deals with ideas about what is good and bad behavior (Webster Dictionary). Which makes it an important course to take to acquire morals for the business world. Gaining knowledge about different people is important for a business major. Taking general liberal arts courses such as sociology and psychology is essential when pursuing a marketing degree. Being used to living in the fast-paced city of Chicago, it was interesting to live in different parts of the country and experience different lifestyles. Attending a community college in a Chicago suburb allowed him to meet different people. Not only people in the city of Chicago, but people in the Chicago area as a whole. It was interesting to discover how different their suburban lives were from mine. Moving to New York and living twenty minutes outside of the city was a huge cultural change. Just by participating in a semester in New York, it was captivating to meet people from all over the country. After living in New York, interest as a business owner grew. By attending a few liberal arts courses, such as economics and philosophy, the curiosity to learn more about different people grew. After injuring my knee while playing football and not being able to play anymore, I was forced to look for another school closer to Chicago. Given his business major, moving to Quincy was a wise choice for a variety of reasons. One reason is that Quincy is a rural area and we are curious about how people in this town live. Being used to living in big cities and living in Quincy was a challenge at first.
