Essay / Reflecting on Organizational Conflict - 1442
I enjoy meeting and interacting with people and learning about their culture and interests. Even as we turn some of our weaknesses into strengths, new ones often surface. I mentioned that I am an overachiever and overanalyze most situations, which often results in wasted time that could be spent on other tasks. I excelled at producing results and encouraging others to do the same, but my leadership roles in group work were more focused on achieving results. However, I should have taken on a more supportive and participatory role that would have also benefited the group members (Finkelstein, 2000). Additionally, I've found that I'm usually the hardest-working member of the team and people tend to take advantage of me. My grades are generally high and of the utmost importance, therefore, I take over when others decide not to hold their position. As a result, some group members were just following the group grade without doing any work. However, if I had been more directive in letting these individuals know that the work they were doing would reflect their grades, I would have had a greater impact. collaboration and group participation (Prieto, 2013). Additionally, many group and personal conflicts could have been avoided if I had worked on some of my weaknesses and turned them into strengths through character building (Pathak, 2010).
