Essay / Autobiography of Chief Black Hawk - 1319
Reading the autobiography of Chief Black Hawk made me realize how different the Sac Tribe actually was compared to what they call the Whites. The Sac tribe was based on peace and a spiritual lifestyle. They weren't all for themselves, none of them were. If someone they know doesn't have what they need but does, they won't hesitate to share. This is how all communities should be, but unfortunately we are not all as generous as the Sac. They were such good people that I wonder why white people were so sneaky about them. They could trick them into agreeing to something without even knowing it. The Sacs had excellent crops, so no one in their village went hungry and they made sure of that. They all even hunted the women, which gave them plenty of meat, fruits and vegetables until the next hunt. This village was full of very happy people. They had everything they needed to survive and they were all very close, helping and supporting each other at the end of the day. If I had to choose a tribe, I would go to the Sac tribe just by reading this autobiography. Starting with the Sac (Sauk) tribe, this tribe was formerly known as the Sauk and Meskwaki tribe. The name Sac comes from the indigenous name “Asakiwaki” which means “people of the yellow earth”. These two tribes were very close and spoke the same language, but they nevertheless remained very independent. The Fox tribe was demolished in a war with the French; Not all of the Fox Indians were killed, but most were. The rest of the Indians broke into the village of Sauk where they came for protection. After this war, these Indians decided to reunite with the Sac tribe and found the Sac and Fox tribe. These tribal villages were made up of domes...... middle of paper ......014)The Sac and Sioux Indians did not always have an easy life, but rather complicated when it came to their interaction with white cultures. White cultures felt like they owned all the land and that Native Americans were not welcome on their land. What the whites were doing was tricking the Indians into accepting something they thought was something else. What these Native Americans experienced was hell and they did not deserve to endure the complications and pain that the white settlers caused them. It seemed that the Aboriginal people would never be able to settle because the white people always had a plan up their sleeve. The Native Americans and whites broke many treaties, which is why there was no peace between them for a very long time. Fortunately today these natives can finally live in peace without trying to be killed every second of the day for their land..
