Essay / Causes of the Red Scare - 2213 | influenced and infiltrated by communist groups. These two events have been referred to as the Red Scare, a time when the "reds" or communists, there was fear that they would play a role and active participation in our democratic government. The first Red Scare occurred in the early years 1919-1924, after World War I, and the second Red Scare occurred after World War II, between 1947 and 1954. Both events, although occurring in two entirely different eras, had effects that would impact American society for several future generations and the treatment of racial prejudice against those who held communist beliefs and believed in a supremacist government. There were several causes for the Red Scare of the 1920s, and how it aroused suspicion of communism. This red scare lasted for almost 5 years until the United States economy finally began to improve after the disastrous First World War. The main reason for the first Red Scare was the Russian Revolution. Before World War I, the Russian people lived in an economically corrupt country. Few had enough to eat or sustain themselves and were on the verge of death. This created a period of fear and terror because of the influence of communism and its impact on American relations with Russia. The Red Scare would lead to one of the longest "invisible" wars between America, democracy and Russia and communism. This would create one of the most technologically advanced generations, in which both countries would compete for more powerful weapons and military power. At the same time, it is also a Renaissance where the greatest minds are sought by the government..
