Essay / House: The Haunted House - 1001
The Haunted HouseThe scariest house I ever knew was right next to my aunt's house when I was almost 10 years old. An old lady with her cat lived there. One day the lights went out and we couldn't hear any noise or see anyone. It looked like she left the house alone but no one really knew her and it was also common to see the house abandoned for a few days. But this time it was different and worse; it looked like she had died but everyone was afraid to ask. No one entered the house and the only movement that could be seen was her black cat sleeping on the porch right next to the door. If you were walking and were to pass right by the scratchy gray house, you might feel the cat looking at you. People started saying that something was wrong in the house and that it seemed to be haunted by the old lady. We weren't sure if the noise was coming from the old lady's house, but we went there anyway even though I wasn't sure if that was the case. It was the right thing to do, but they insisted that nothing would happen if we went together to see what was going on inside. The cat was no longer on the porch. As we walked, we could smell the dead grass and the scary sight of bare trees. We finally made it to the porch stairs, but every step we took seemed broken and empty. The window glass was broken and the door was also scratched. As soon as we all got to the door, it opened but no one was behind it. One of the children ran away crying and screaming, he was too scared to go.
