33,000 is the number of homeless people living on the streets in Canada and 8,000 to 11,000 of these people are young people aged just 16 to 24 years. This number is increasing day by day due to social and economic factors and finding a solution is becoming more complicated. Many adolescents find themselves homeless due to difficulties experienced in their lives or addictions and mental/psychological disabilities, which affect the integrity of that person. This essay will explain the factors that explain why young people end up on the streets and the harmful effects this can cause, as well as how Canada is responding and solving this problem. The world is discovering how the population of young people on the streets is increasing and they are trying to find many solutions to this problem in hopes of getting many off the streets and starting to have a better and healthier life for themselves -themselves. How do teenagers end up homeless? Being homeless is never a choice but a downfall in life due to all kinds of difficulties that arise in a person's living environment. For many teens, homelessness is due to poor living situations at home, such as an abusive relationship within the family or a family in debt due to poverty, which puts stress on the teen . About 40% of girls and 19% of boys left home because of sexual abuse. Teenagers are still learning how to cope with life and therefore tend to have strong emotions that they don't know how to deal with, leading them to feel unconformable, which can lead to addiction. Alcohol and drug addictions are a large aspect of homelessness. Addiction is very likely to lead young people to lose interest in anything in life and their normal daily routines, leading to poor school attendance and poor grades, leading to the bad outcome of being kicked out of school...... middle of paper ...... Imagine a terrible winter night, lying on the uncomfortable ground of the earth and nothing to protect you from the weather except a jacket and maybe a tarp if you're lucky. Homeless people face this problem in Canada more than you think. The main aspect of homelessness is the challenges of life and how Canada deals with and finds solutions. The country of Canada is trying to reduce the number of young people on the streets using several solutions. Such as shelters, charities and fundraisers. Using shelter systems can cost between $30,000 and $40,000 per year, making it difficult for these shelters to become popular. The Canadian federal government helps fund the homelessness program called the Community Partnership Support Initiative and attempts to involve a larger majority of people in helping homeless youth..
